Modifying the stacking order

We'll need to modify the order of the objects to get them to look right.

As you create objects using OpenOffice.org Impress, they are layered one on top of another. Each time you add another object it is placed on top of the stack. In this example, the curved arrow is on top of the blue contribution graphic. We need to change that.

You can change the stacking order of an item by selecting the item, then right clicking on it. Choose arrange from the pop up menu.

Bring to front will place the selected item on top of all other items, send to back will place it below all other items.

Bring forward will move the item up one layer in the stack and send backward will send the item one layer closer to the bottom.

The most convenient way to move an item from one layer to another is to use the in front of object or behind object commands.

These commands let you place the currently selected item either directly above or directly below any other item on the page.

We'll select the “place behind” command then click the item behind which we want to place the curved arrow - in this case the blue graphic.

Now the graphic is complete.
